Trip Terms and Conditions

The agreement between you and African Lisbon Tour when you reserve a place on a trip.

Last updated: 9 September 2026

These terms apply to the multi day trips sold on this site. The Lisbon walking tour is a separate product with its own terms.

1. Who you are contracting with

African Lisbon Tour, Lisbon, Portugal (info@africanlisbontour.com, +351 932 273 536).

2. Reserving a place

Submitting the reservation form is a request, not a confirmed booking. Your place is confirmed when we accept it in writing and your deposit has cleared. We will tell you at that point exactly what you owe, and when.

3. Deposit, balance and prices

  • A 25% deposit reserves your place. The deposit is non-refundable, because we commit it to hotels and local operators as soon as you book.
  • Prices are quoted per person in US dollars and depend on the trip and on your room choice. Where a trip offers double and single occupancy, the price you picked at reservation is the price that applies.
  • The balance is due before departure. We confirm the exact due date in writing when we accept your reservation. If the balance is not paid by that date we may treat the booking as cancelled by you, and clause 5 applies.
  • Prices can change until your booking is confirmed. Once confirmed, we will not increase your price except where a government imposes a new tax or charge.

4. What is and is not included

Included, unless the trip page says otherwise: accommodation, guided activities on the itinerary, and local transport during the trip.

Not included: international flights to and from the destination, visas and any vaccinations, travel insurance, most meals unless stated, drinks, tips and anything personal.

5. If you cancel

Tell us in writing as early as you can. The deposit is not refundable in any case. Beyond the deposit, what you can recover depends on what we have already committed to hotels, airlines and local operators on your behalf, and we will show you those costs honestly. If we can resell your place we will refund what we recover.

You may transfer your place to someone else who meets the trip requirements, up to 14 days before departure, provided you cover any supplier charge for the change.

6. If we cancel or change a trip

These are small group trips and they need a minimum number of travellers. If we cancel a departure, for that reason or for anything else within our control, you choose between a full refund of everything you have paid us, including the deposit, and a transfer to another departure. We are not able to refund flights or other arrangements you booked yourself, which is why we ask you not to book flights until we confirm the trip is running.

Itineraries can shift. Weather, local conditions, strikes and closures happen, and we may substitute an activity or a hotel for something of a comparable standard. If a change is significant and you no longer want to travel, you can cancel and take a full refund.

7. Passports, visas, health and insurance

  • You are responsible for holding a valid passport, normally with at least six months left beyond your return date, and for obtaining any visa you need. We will tell you what we know, but requirements depend on your nationality and only you can confirm them with the relevant embassy.
  • You are responsible for any vaccinations or health precautions the destination requires. Check with a travel clinic in good time.
  • We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical treatment, repatriation and cancellation, and we may ask you to confirm you have it before departure.
  • If you are refused boarding or entry because your documents are not in order, we cannot refund the trip.

8. Behaviour on the trip

These groups are small and spend real time together. We may end your participation, without refund and at your own cost to get home, if your behaviour endangers others, breaks local law, or persistently spoils the trip for the rest of the group. Racist or abusive conduct ends a trip immediately.

9. Our liability

We organise the trip with reasonable care and skill and we are responsible for the services we agreed to provide. We are not liable for events outside our reasonable control, including natural events, civil unrest, epidemics, strikes and the acts of third parties, nor for arrangements you make independently. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, and none of it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Complaints and applicable law

Tell your host on the spot if something is wrong, so it can be fixed while you are still there, and email us afterwards if it was not resolved. These terms are governed by Portuguese law. You may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
